（月次売上動向） 12月は、第3波の到来により巣ごもりの傾向が強まる中、GMS事業の主力企業であるイオンリテールでは、中旬から年末かけて気温が低下したことで、食品に加え、衣料・住居余暇商品の売上も中旬以降
は右肩上がりのトレンドとなりました。中でも、オンライン購入への需要の高まりから、ネットスーパー・Eコマースの売上が伸長し、ギフト関連のEC売上が昨年から約1.4倍と伸びている他、自転車やプチ贅沢な名産品などが好
調でした。また、ネットスーパーで買った商品を店舗で受け取れるサービス「ピックアップ」は197店舗、お客さま自身が貸し出し用の専用スマートフォンで商品をスキャンし、専用レジで会計する「レジゴー」も、お客さまの使い勝
手を改善しながら、22店舗での展開となりました。なお、ユナイテッド・スーパーマーケット・ホールディングスの「スキャン＆ゴー」は、傘下のカスミに加え、マルエツ、マックスバリュ関東での展開もスタートし、114店舗（1月12日
現在）の展開実績となっております。
スーパーマーケット事業、ヘルス＆ウエルネス事業の各社は、イエナカ需要を追い風に、生鮮食品、台所用品等の開示消耗品や衛生関連用品等の売上が引き続き好調で、下表の通り、前年を上回る水準が継続しました。
December Sales Trends; At Aeon Retail (a mainstay company of the General Merchandise Store (GMS) Business), sales of food products, as well as apparel and household & recreational products, trended upward from
mid-December. This was due to a drop in temperatures from mid- through late-December amid strengthening of the stay-at-home trend with the arrival of a third wave of COVID-19 infections. The desire of consumers to
avoid coming into close contact with others spurred online supermarket/e-commerce sales growth in particular, with gift-related e-commerce sales increasing by approximately 40% year on year, and strong sales of
products such as bicycles and modestly luxurious regional specialties. An in-store pick-up service allowing customers to collect their Internet supermarket purchases at store premises is now provided at 197 stores. The
Regi Go service, which allows customers to scan their own shopping using dedicated loaned smartphones and pay at dedicated cash registers, has also now been introduced at 22 stores, with enhancements being made to
the service’s user-friendliness on an ongoing basis. United Super Markets Holdings’ Scan & Go service has also now been introduced at 114 stores (as of January 12), with a rollout of the service now also underway at
Maruetsu and Maxvalu Kanto stores in addition to stores of U.S.M. Holdings subsidiary Kasumi.
Experiencing a tailwind from stay-at-home demand, Supermarket Business and Health & Wellness Business companies performed at above year-earlier levels (can be seen in the table below), with continued strong sales of
products such as fresh food, kitchen supplies and other housekeeping consumables, and sanitation-related goods.

The food business in the Tohoku region of AEON Retail Co., Ltd. was transferred to AEON Tohoku Co., Ltd. (formerly Maxvalu Tohoku Co., Ltd.) on 1st Mar 2020. Since July, the same stores sales (starting from March) have been changed to the results of 7 companies
including the Tohoku division which remains partially after the transfer.
